Adobe Workfront

Adobe Workfront

Workfront is a modern work management platform which combines work, collaboration, and digital content proofing. It aims to become, first, a true "Operational System of Record" which would act as a HUB for all the management solutions organizations need in the digital age. During my time at Workfront I was working as a UX Designer and I was engaged in many interesting and crucial initiatives for the company.

Task

Contribution to the design system ("Phoenix"), ongoing user experience improvements to "Quicksilver" (data analysis, testing with users, flows, etc.), and ongoing usability improvements to Workfront "Proof."

Forms and form controls

Research, design & validation of forms and form controls

I was a part of a team responsible for research and creation of forms designs and their elements for Phoenix (design system). I contributed with a general analysis of the current state of forms across the entire Workfront platform, then moved to a more detailed analysis of usage data.

After that, I decided to propose a new system for controls and behavior. With my team's help, we were able to verify the proposed solutions with users, and in the end those pieces were added to the design system — covering states like empty, focused, mid-entry, and required fields, plus drop-downs, multi-select, and error messaging at both the field and page level.

Unified Settings

Unified Settings — bringing two products together

In the past, Workfront Proof was a separate product — that means separate UI and UX, separate users and workflows. As a member of the UX team I was a part of the initiative aimed at bringing the two closer together.

I started from analysis of the available data, feedback from users, and the existing information architecture. Then, from all of that information, I was able to forge a proposition that was put before the executive team. The project was heavily focused on research (data analysis, interviews with customers, etc.) and verification of proposed solutions with end users — including weighing three different integration models: a "true" merge, keeping settings fully separate, and a hybrid.

Quick Proof Access

Quick Proof Access — cutting the time customers need to reach proof content

Quick Proof Access was a project dedicated to improving the time required for customers to access certain areas of the product. Cooperation with the technical team allowed us to craft a very simple — yet powerful — solution that reduced the time required to access proof content, and directly improved customer workflows.

In this project I was responsible for proposing the new user flow, the general logic behind it, and validating it directly with customers.

Workfront Best Employee, 2018

Recognized as Workfront's Best Employee for contributions to Quicksilver and Phoenix

For my involvement in the Quicksilver and Phoenix initiatives, I was recognized by the executive team and received the Award for Best Employee.

“Mateusz is a hard working data driven designer with a growth mindset. He proactively looks for the "why" behind customer interaction and challenges the status quo appropriately. He's also a pleasure to work with! If you get the opportunity to work with Mateusz, you should take it!”

“I have worked alongside Mateusz for nearly a year now. During this past year together I have witnessed Mateusz excel at his position as a designer, as well as continually push himself and his research (…) Mateusz has taken on responsibilities well-beyond his core job role and has been an important part of the success of the Workfront UX team. His input has been incredibly vital to the success of several projects we've worked on together and I appreciate his positive attitude when approaching new ideas and changes. His incredible attention to detail, process and understanding has shown his ambition and his willingness to continually produce value. I have been so lucky to work alongside Mateusz and know that success will follow him wherever his next career move takes him.”

Document details & proofing viewer — integrating Workfront and Workfront Proof

This project was meant to better integrate 2 products (Workfront and Workfront Proof). Past integration had led customers to confusion in many areas related to documents and proofing; as a member of one of the product teams, I was working on improvements for that part of the system.

I started from an analysis of the current solution, data flows, and customer feedback. Then, based on the current iteration of Phoenix, my team and I proposed an updated experience. From surveys, through user interviews, up to traffic-data analysis — all of that allowed me to provide crucial insights for the proposed solutions.
